Seeking Older Women Actor to Play Pulitzer Prize Winning Poet Elizabeth Bishop

Independent
January 21-January 21, Ithaca College
Casting: Actor to Play Pulitzer Prize Winning Poet Elizabeth Bishop as an Older Woman. The actor should have some resemblance to the woman herself (smaller frame, white hair, in her sixties) and be able to play her in scenes that show her intelligence, wit, strong opinions and her guarded nature. This is a gem of a role. Bishop is a distinct, complex character, and has a remarkable journey. There are scenes of her teaching at Harvard, being interviewed, writing, and trying to overcome the loss of a great love. It’s a speaking role with many lines. We are intending to shoot three days in March, 2018 in Ithaca, New York, and we are auditioning candidates in several sessions between now and then. It’s for a low budget feature length documentary called Elizabeth Bishop and the Art of Losing. We ask that you get in touch to set up an audition.
